Anu Allington, LMSW
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Welcome! My goal is to help you navigate the complexities of relationships and attachments, explore elements of your personality, and identify themes and patterns that take away from the richness of your life. I will collaborate with you to develop and create emotional insight, growth, and perspective that will have a lasting and positive impact on your quality of life. I offer a supportive, non-judgmental approach, creating an environment of safety and trust for you to fully open up. Outside of the therapy office, you will find me chasing after my rambunctious Maltese puppy, or driving out of my way to capture Michigan sunsets!
I work with individuals, families, and couples. I specialize in treating eating disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and grief & loss. I have a special interest in working with those managing chronic illnesses as well. Additionally, I enjoy working with women managing perimenopause or post-menopause.
It is truly an honor to sit with clients and learn their stories, give them a voice, and offer non-judgmental space and compassion. I find my work as a therapist to be meaningful, important, and fulfilling. I began my social work career in 2004, and have worked in various settings both in California and Michigan, including inpatient hospitals and clinics.
I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities that are tailored to each client's unique needs, goals, and personalities. I primarily use insight-oriented therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Therapy. I often weave in elements of DBT and CBT. If I am not the right fit, I will assist you in finding the best match.
